Toyota Delivers Wildfire Hero Nurse's Tundra Replacement

Toyota USA has made good on its promise to replace the charred Tundra of a nurse who used the vehicle to help people escape the devastating Camp Fire

Recently, Toyota provided what might well end up being the feel-good motoring story of the year, by promising to replace the Tundra pickup of a brave nurse. Allyn Pierce had used his truck to evacuate the people from Paradise hospital - where he is lead nurse of the intensive care unit - with the vehicle left charred and melted from its two trips through the deadly Camp Fire that hit California this month.

Now, Pierce has posted a photo of the replacement Tundra which Toyota has supplied, facing off with the damaged original. In addition, The Rockstar Garage - which had originally offered to step in had Toyota decided against honouring its promise - visited Pierce, and it now seems the outfit will be modifying the new vehicle.

“This truck literally saved my life today,” Pierce said on an Instagram image posted on 9 November, going on to explain its role in the evacuation effort. The official Toyota USA account replied: “We are humbled you’d risk your life and Toyota Tundra to drive people to safety. Don’t worry about your truck, we’re honored to get you a new one!”

The new truck will hopefully come as a silver lining for Pierce, who is now without a home and a workplace. The wildfire - the deadliest in California history - covered an area in excess of 150,000 acres, destroyed almost all of Paradise, and is so far confirmed to have claimed the lives of 83 people.

I would personally get the burnt truck repaired if possible. Wouldn’t be able to let go of it after such an adventure

I think the old Tundra needs to be put on display somewhere to remind everyone of what happened….

This was honestly a decent thing Toyota did for her. She has guts of steel and is thanked by a metal giant!

Just another PR stunt.
He got this new truck more as a result of his Instagram status and not his good will. Would he still have gotten the truck had he not had Instagram? No. How many others risked life, limb, and vehicles doing the same thing?
Many
How many are getting this treatment? just him.
If Toyota were to have ignored this they would have been railed on and only did this for show.
Praise this all you want but this is just another mini-sub.

Maybe if other people publicized their Tundra and what they did to help others, despite it being burned to hell, maybe the respective manufacturer would do something. But seeing as nobody else has, don’t go saying that no one is getting the same treatment. It was a good thing to do on their end for someone risking their life to help others

“Just another [Publicity] stunt”. Don’t mind if I call that claim Bullsh*t.
For Instagram status? It’s more for testifying a thrilling story, which I and many more raise the glass for. Anyone can use Insta to snap a pic of their fire-damaged car. Just happens that he’s customed to this social platform.
Fact he tagged Toyota’s insta [Toyotausa] got their attention well.
His testimony in a way was and is to demonstrate Toyota’s engineering feat.
