Getting hacked off about all the delays to the release of Project Cars? Worry not, as it seems the title’s developers are looking to placate impatient gamers by making a few announcements. Or teasing us with tantalising details, depending on how you look at it.

Firstly, the third pre-order bonus car has now been revealed. Slightly Mad Studios announced on Friday that sitting beside the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster and Ariel Atom 3 Mugen is the Ruf CTR3 SMS-R. If you have already preordered the game with the Modified Car Pack, all three of these will be ready to race as soon as the game begins.

The Ruf CTR3 SMS-R is a track-only version of the CTR3, with 750bhp available from its 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine. With lots of unnecessary weight removed, this beast tips the virtual scales at 270kg less than the road-going version.

With a little over a month left before the game goes public, there is plenty of time to preorder and have all three of the super cars in the modified car pack waiting for you to rev them up. The game goes live 2 April 2015 for Europe and 7 April 2015 for North America, except for PC downloads, which go live worldwide at the first release. Don’t forget that the digital version will include a limited-edition upgrade DLC pack with the Ford GT40, BMW M1 Pro Car, McLaren F1, Sauber C9 and Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Coupe DTM.

The next announcement from Project Cars to tie us over is the trophy system, which you can check out in its entirety here. It rewards the driver for accomplishments separated into Career, Solo, Online and Community modes. The difficulty of the rewarded tasks varies from Bronze to Platinum (for which there is only one trophy). Here are a few examples of what you’ll see:

  • Bronze – Selfie - took a photo of your Signature Car on your Favourite Location

    Not hard, right?

  • Silver - I Am The 5% - won an Online Public race using Pro handling, manual gears, and no driving aids, from cockpit view

This should be something you want to achieve anyway, but the trophy lets you brag.

  • Gold - Defending Champ - defended a Career Championship for three consecutive years

Okay, you are obviously committed to the game…and winning.

  • Platinum - One More For The Road - earned all other Achievements

Nobody can touch you. Ever. You are king of the Universe.

If you haven’t familiarised yourself with Project Cars, now’s the time. The in-depth look at Career Mode will answer a lot of questions, but the most important thing to know is how this game is going to shape the gaming industry. Every step of building this game has involved racing enthusiasts who are driven to build a simulator unlike anything on the market. The crowd game creation platform, World of Mass Development, seems thrilled for the release, saying:

With over 80,000 players being involved since October 2011, in April racing fans will finally get their hands on the most technically-advanced, beautiful, intense and authentic racing game on the planet that’s been tested, guided, and approved every step of the way by both gamers and real-life pro drivers alike.

Excited? You should be.
