Turbo VTEC Engines Will Soon Be Kicking In, Yo
Yep, you heard that right, the next generation of VTEC engines will come packing a turbo. Honda are the latest in a long line of manufacturers downsizing its engines and adding turbochargers in the quest for better fuel economy and lower emissions.
The company has announced three new engines: a 1-litre three-cylinder, and a 1.5 and 2-litre four-cylinder. All three will feature variable valve motion technology.
The first to hit the UK will be the 2-litre version, which will be in the forthcoming Civic Type-R. That engine will develop over 280bhp, while complying with tightening emissions regulations.
