Ugar Sahin has shown himself to be very talented in his designs, with excellent renderings of cars ranging from his own creations to a beautiful interpretation of a new Ferrari Dino. A little over a year ago he introduced a design called the Z03 based on the Corvette, with the intent for production. Now it looks like that's being realized with a partnership between Ugar Sahin Design and Mallet Cars.
There it is, with some substantial tweaking done since it's showing a year ago. They say the changes are done to improve cooling and downforce and they improve the look of the car, at least in the front. The new design has a glass opening to see through into the bright-red engine.
It's not clear what the car's name Z03 is in reference to but it's clever to tie it in together with the iconic Z0-series line of Corvettes. The design is clearly meant to be a more aggressive take on the Corvette; not a beautiful Italian-style interpretation like we've seen some others try to do with coachbuilt vehicles in this category.
Like I said before, the car is being done in collaboration with tuner Mallet Cars. Not only is the car's design changed, there is also powertrain changes as well. The "base" engine will be a supercharged LS7 V-8 making 700 horsepower.
Not enough? There will be another option for a twin-superchargedversion of the engine making an outrageous 999 horsepower. Crazy, all in the lightweight Corvette basis car. With that kind of power and design changes, the The Z03 promises to be the ultimate of all Corvette-based coachbuilt vehicles.
Not including the donor vehicle price, bodywork changes will run you $69,000. Engine upgrades are $32,700 for the 700 horsepower LS7 and $35,795 for the twin-supercharged 999 horsepower. Not much of a bump to get the tp engine, huh? $3,795 for 299 extra ponies is an incredible deal, indeed as is this whole vehicle.
It's not clear when the car will become available. Details on that are probably forthcoming. Hang tight!
