UK Cops Are Actually Trialling A V8 Ford Mustang
Whenever we see a sports car or supercar liveried up in UK police colours, we don’t tend to take a whole lot of notice. Why? Because unlike the Dubai Police Force with its fantastically ridiculous supercar fleet, in the UK the closest we normally get is a borrowed car stickered up for a publicity stunt. A Lamborghini Gallardo, a Lotus Evora, even an Ariel Atom - we’ve seen them all undergo temporary rozzer transformations for events and campaigns, so when we saw a Ford Mustang police car last week, we thought it’d be the same deal.
Turns out it is - it’s been created for the 2016 National Association of Police Fleet Managers show (our ticket must have got lost in the post), where it’s displayed amongst other absurdities like a police BMW M2 and a Renault Twizy patrol quadricycle. However, Motoring Research got in touch with Ford UK, and while the show car is for, well, show, there is currently a Ford Mustang GT being assessed by British cops.

It gets better, as apparently several forces are seriously considering the V8 Mustang as an addition to their fleets. You can see why: it’s affordable, fast and relatively simple. It’d be easy to get the cars serviced, too - UK police forces already have thousands of Blue Oval vehicles on their books. And while officials will probably never admit it, the fact a Mustang would make them look a hell of a lot cooler is surely a factor…

Before I scroll down to the comments I know I will see crowd jokes
I’d rather have one of these, to be honest!
