This Unbelievable Wreck Was Caught Driving With Its Suspension Held Together By A Scarf
Police in the UK have stopped a car whose suspension was being held together with a wheel clamp, a scarf and a bike lock-style chain.
Described by the police as ‘one of the worst cars ever examined’, the vehicle – an old Suzuki Swift – is an absolute wreck. The driver’s side door panel looks like it has seen the wrong end of a crowbar at the front edge, the front wing has extensive damage and there’s at least one tyre that’s so illegal it’s down to the carcass.
Derbyshire Roads Police stopped the offending rustbucket and promptly condemned it to be crushed. They tweeted these pictures along with the hashtag #DeathTrap. We can’t argue with that.
We have to say we’re a bit shocked by these shots. Even bearing in mind how little some people care about their cars and keeping them road-legal, this is a bad one. Let’s all just hope those people never come anywhere near us!

Wait. What?
I was thinking the same thing. Guess he knows someone who can fake MOT reports.
I’ve seen worse in the US running on the road legally, all you have to do for rego is go into the DMV pay a fee, and boom, new rego sticker
I have seen worse in SC…
Missing the most important element . . .
Duct/Gaffer tape would have been safer.
When Zipties and Duct tape is too mainstream.
Are British crazy or rtarded?
Those are called chavs, they probably put that scarf there thinking it would go faster
No. This guy, though? Yes.
Having spent a little time on Spanish islands I wouldn’t point fingers! This would fit right in.
JDM Life tho
Budget life
It’s a shame the old Swift has to fall to this fate of being a “joke car”; early 2000’s models are so cheap that it seems one or two owners take their dispensability to the extreme, not caring one jot about them :(
Call Rob Ferretti, this is a perfect match for his hockey-puck-motor-mount Miata
I bet it could still do 80 mph down the motorway :D
And after that the ambulance will do 90 taking you to the hospital
But can it stop?

I’ve heard of soft suspension, but this is ridiculous. Was he weaving across the road? Or just hanging around the hard shoulder…
