This Unlucky Hit And Run Driver Left Their Number Plate Lodged In The Car They Struck
It’s a car owner’s worst nightmare - someone has crashed into your pride and joy, and has driven off without giving you their insurance details. It looked as though that happened for the driver of the Golf you see here, but there was little chance of the other motorist getting away with it: amazingly, their numberplate had been left wedged between the passenger side doors of the car.
The Golf owner posted up their version of events on Reddit. The other driver had apparently pulled out of a parking lot to the right of a three-lane road, striking the Golf before leaving the scene. A police officer took the number plate in order to trace the driver, who apparently came back to the scene 20 minutes later, claiming that they had been looking for the Golf driver.
It seems odd that someone wouldn’t just pull over immediately, so it’s possible they intended to leave the accident scene, but return after noticing the missing plate. The Golf driver re-stated to the officer that the other motorist had left the scene of the accident, but is yet to hear back from the authorities.
