Update: This Cruel McLaren P1 Crash Will Bring Tears To Your Eyes

This is the cruel result of a McLaren P1 crash in Dallas earlier today. Details of why this occured are very thin on the ground, but excessive speed will probably have been a factor.

As you can see, the P1 appears to have bounced off a guard rail, tearing the barrier apart. The damage to the car - which may have bounced and spun across the road at speed - is very extensive. Not one panel seems to have escaped the incident.

The right-hand side of the hypercar took the biggest hit, ripping bodywork clean off and obliterating the car’s suspension.

Whether or not the P1 is repairable remains to be seen. If it is, then the owner’s bill will likely be in the hundreds of thousands of pounds. If not, then expect to bag a bargain when the 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine ends up on eBay.

Either way, this is a sad day for petrolheads. The McLaren P1 is a car capable of lapping the Nurburgring in 06min 47sec thanks to its combined output of 908bhp, 0-62mph time of just 2.8sec and top speed of 217mph. It’s also one of the most beautiful and striking cars we’ve ever seen.

The car was bought by an unknown 27-year-old from Park Place Premier Collection just 24 hours before the smash. Both the man and his 24-year-old passenger were injured in the crash and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
