There are a number of perils that come with owning a car; damaging it beyond repair or having it stolen are probably the two biggest fears we all face, and when you’re a car guy who has put a lot of effort into their motor those fears are amplified.

Unfortunately for CT reader Kal Biggins, one of those fears was realised last night, when a scumbag stole his 1991 Mazda MX-5. Kal uploaded a picture of his pride and joy to Discuss, and shared some important details about how to identify his car.

It was stolen in the S10 area of Sheffield, England, and wears the number plate J712 TVS. Fortunately it’s got a distinctive grey plastidip exterior, Rota K7 wheels with a red centre, and rear quarter panel damage (pictured). The interior has red leather seats and a wooden steering wheel.

So if you’re in the UK, particularly in the Sheffield area, keep your eyes out. If you spot the car on the road call the police, and it should go without saying: do not confront anyone about the car! If you have any information you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Share the pictures and information with your mates and let’s see if TeamCT can help a friend in need!

Update: Good news!

The car has been found! It’s not all positive however, as Kal explains:

“Hey guys. MASSIVE thanks to CT and everyone with info and good will messages. It got found. And it’s in really bad shape, it’s going to be a big job, but I reckon a rebuild is in order.

“Attempted burn out. Failed that. So they trashed it and stole the hardtop. And some other things. But I got given a address.. so I reported that. Probably nothing will come of it.”

It’s gutting that the car has been damaged, but at least he has it back!
