Duval was driving the number one Audi R18 e-tron quattro in free practice, when he apparently lost control at the Porsche Curves. The official LeMans feed reported that Audi engineers were transported to the scene to help release Duval. After about five minutes of working with engineers and medical teams, Duval was placed in an ambulance which was seen leaving the scene as marshals began loading the mangled wreckage onto a truck. Practice was red flagged while crews worked on the damaged catch fencing, with cars allowed back on track at 17:55 local time.
