This Used Lamborghini Gallardo Is An 'Affordable' Huracan Alternative

When we dig cars out of the classifieds to feature, we usually like to go for motors that are relatively attainable - take yesterday’s £9k Vauxhall VX220 Turbo, for example. However, with the new Lamborghini Huracan cropping up in the news quite a bit these days, we wanted to find a more affordable route into Lambo ownership. If you want to do that, you’ll need at least £50,000, which kind of stretches the term ‘affordable’ to breaking point.

That being said, considering a Huracan will set you back £188,000, an early used Gallardo is a comparative bargain at about a quarter of the price. And you get a lot of performance for your money. The mid-mounted 5.0-litre V10 kicks out 500bhp, enough to get you from 0-62mph in four seconds dead, and on to a top speed of 196mph. The power is sent to all four wheels via our favourite method: a manual gearbox. And not just any stick shift, it’s a proper gated manual, which will make each gear change extra satisfying.

This 2003 example’s mileage is a little high compared to most Gallardos we’ve found (39,000), but so long as it’s been well looked after that shouldn’t be an issue. It has a full service history, and is up for £54,989. All we need to do now is raise the cash…
