It was only a matter of time before Mercedes lopped the rear doors off the current C-Class to create a coupe version, but now it’s here, we’re not so sure about the way it looks. In fact, when we put it to a poll, only 33 per cent of you voted in favour of the new two-door C, with almost 50 per cent opting for "not beautiful, but not ugly either", and a full 18 per cent reckoning it was downright ugly. This is a shame, as the old one most definitely was a looker, particularly in full fat C63 AMG mode (the C63 version of the new car has since been leaked).

With the C204 C-Class coupe’s well proportioned body enhanced with angrier body parts, 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and quad tail pipes, it just looks right, don’t you think? And it goes well, too: that naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre V8 serves up 457bhp, getting you from 0-62mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The best part? As these C63 coupes have been knocking around for a few years, the wonders of depreciation have made them reasonably affordable. This 37,000 mile example is up for £31,000 - not a whole lot more than the anticipated starting price for the properly boggo spec W205 coupes.
Sure, it has a voracious appetite for fuel and tyres, and will cost more than the average Mercedes to service, but it’s all worth it. Tempted?
