Vauxhall Has Hiked The Maloo Up To A Bonkers 529bhp
The Maloo could never be accused of being anything other than a welcome dose of insanity in an ever-more sensible world. Packing an LS3 V8 and, with an empty bed, pretty much no weight over the rear wheels, its 425bhp was more than enough to earn it a reputation as a wild child. Well now we need a whole new dictionary of hyperbolisms, because the refreshed Maloo now gets a supercharged LSA V8 engine making 529bhp and 494lb ft of torque.
The unit is essentially the same as that found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 but with a slight retune. On forced-induction duty is an Eaton four-lobe supercharger, and a new high-flow exhaust system and a stand-alone water-to-air charge-air cooling system now also feature. To tame that extra kick, spring and damper rates have been stiffened to reduce body roll, and a unique rear suspension module has been fitted to improve rear stiffness. Launch control (in manual only) and a limited-slip differential now come as standard.
So if you like the prospect of launching from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds in a pickup truck that could carry half a tonne of stuff in the back, you’ll need to find £54,500 for this updated Vauxhall Maloo. We can’t think of a more hilarious way to destroy rear tyres.

Vauxhall and Opel are both part of the European division of GM. Basically the sell the same exact cars, but Vauxhall is only sold in the UK. From time to time there are models exclusive to one of the brands, but it seems that only Vauxhall get the good stuff…
if i ever got one first thing id do is duct tape somone to the back of the bed and do burnouts…..
Holden, or more accurately, HSV - Vauxhall just stick the badge on.
GM please release and Opel or Pontiac version for the rest of Europe. PLEEEEEEEASSEEEEEEEEE
There was the Pontiac G8 based on the normal Holden Commodore that this is, but was US only and then Pontiac died
Wish LHD version was available
why? drove both here in france and find them both as good. its difficult to see what comes in front with a rhd on little country roads, but on highway i actually love it: no blindspot to see if someone’s nex to you on the left lane =)
now they have to put an LT4 into it
I think they were considering it but it won’t fit in the engine bay
