Video: Venom GT Smashes 200mph In 18 Seconds
In the past couple of weeks, we've been all over Hennessey's Venom GT. From Matt Farah driving the 1244bhp version, to the brand-spanking new Venom GT2, to Ollie Kew's hatred of the whole Venom concept.
In a world full of internet haters and keyboard warriors, the main criticism has been voiced regarding official acceleration and top speed statistics. Is the Venom really a Veyron killer? Is the car just a glorified Lotus with longer legs? John Hennessey has finally dispelled rumours of the car being a turd with a video showing his own Hennessey Venom GT running down a landing strip. And here are the posted figures:
0-200 km/h: 7.96sec = 124mph 0-300 km/h: 13.48sec = 186mph 0-370 km/h: 19.96sec = 230mph
It's clear from the video that the Venom's traction control still needs a bit of work. The car lights up the rear tyres in both first and second gears, and that's where the Veyron SS's all-wheel-drive will help give Bugatti's speed monster the edge off the line.
But at least we can finally quash the rumours. So shove your criticism where the sun don't shine; the Hennessey Venom GT has some big, big balls. And that's verified.
