Vin Diesel Likes Dodge SRT Cars So Much He's Started Advertising Them
Vin Diesel has had a thing going on with Dodge for a long time via the Fast film series, and now the muscle-bound Hollywood hard-man has made the relationship official.
With the latest instalment of the movie series riding high in cinemas, he stars in a new series of Dodge adverts called Brotherhood of Muscle, linking most of the brand’s SRT cars together under a common banner of being (technically) pointlessly aggressive things that you respect and love anyway because they’re a load of fun. It’s like he’s advertising the cars in character.
In the adverts we see Diesel separating SRT from the mainstream by not-so-subtly emphasising the brand’s brashness, its outlaw image and its outright muscle. These are cars made to be naughty, the subtext says as the cars smoke and slide their way across the frame. We’re pretty sure the UK’s advertising nannies wouldn’t allow that…
In the main piece there are SRT versions of Dodge’s entire product line, excluding the Challenger SRT Demon and Viper, the former of which is being treated more as a standalone halo model and the latter of which is being killed-off anyway.
Autoblog says the actor’s decision to advertise Dodge plays directly against Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, who has been advertising with Ford for a while, now.
The adverts are beautifully shot, anyway, so without further ado we think it’s time to leave you to enjoy them. Let us know what you think of them. Is it refreshing to see a manufacturer tread the line of the law in its marketing, is it taking a risk or is it just a bit cheesy?
