Volkswagen Completes Its US Rebound With Sales Up 10 Per Cent
Dieselgate isn’t having much of an impact on American consumer confidence, if the latest sales figures are any guide.
Volkswagen of America’s sales are up 10 per cent so far versus 2017, and in March posted a 17.8 per cent boost from the year before. SUVs are behind the increase, with more than 50 per cent of cars sold taking that body shape compared to just 14.4 per cent in 2017.
First-quarter deliveries totalled 83,952 cars, with 32,548 being registered in March. VWoA says it sold 8276 Tiguan units and 6063 of the larger Atlas, although some may be pre-registrations by dealers aiming to hit sales targets.
Volkswagen has spent more than $7.4 billion to buy back around 350,000 diesel cars in the US that were affected by the dieselgate scandal.

The real takeaway here is, add SUVs to your line up to get profit.
remember when the jetta and golf were vws most successful cars?
ah good times
My Mom is planning to buy a Golf.
Good choice, golfs are good daily drivers
are those cars still there!?
wow, that makes me feel kinda sad actually, even if those cars cheated the emissons, theyre still low milage well made cars……
They got a few extra miles on them last December though, when the silverdome was finally demolished and the VW’s had to be moved out of the parking lot
Good to see VW coming back up, which means people still have faith in them, but if Dieselgate didn’t happen and those fools hadn’t put cheat devices in those cars, then VW would still continue doing great and still have great reputation. My point is, those poor cars wouldn’t see themselves in a field, abandoned. I know they were and still are acknowledged as the biggest automaker in the world as of today. I hope the best of a future for VW. I really do!!! I want you to survive as a brand and continue making such great cars,Volkswagen.
No one even cared at the first place 😂
Hey I’ll take a diesel golf and make it roll coal! Because why not?
Because that isn’t good for the engine. Just make it blow a little smoke.
i hope they reuse all of those scrapped diesel cars
I should steal one of the Golfs/Jettas before it gets crushed. A 2.0l TDI would be great in a MK2.
