Volvo Wants To Enter The Mega Hatch Game With A 315bhp V40 Polestar
When we drove Volvo’s incredible V60 Polestar (video review below), we absolutely loved it. That’s why we’re stupidly excited by the news that Volvo’s performance experts Polestar may well be breathing a little heat into another of the Swedish manufacturer’s cars, the V40. Auto Express reports that Volvo is considering making the V40 into a very hot hatch to compete with the likes of the BMW M135i and Audi S3, as well as the upcoming Ford Focus RS.
It’ll use the same 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged four-pot that’s been confirmed for the new XC90 SUV, kicking out 315bhp. Other than that, details are very limited at this stage, but should the car go ahead, you can expect a whole host of upgrades outside of the engine bay, including uprated suspension, bigger brakes, and possibly a Haldex four-wheel drive system.
