Volvo's New V60 Polestar Wagon Is The Epitome Of Winning At Life

Volvo has revealed its ultimate new wagon. Say hello to the handsome, 345bhp V60 Polestar

Volvo has done it again. It's produced a car so utterly cool, so harrowingly handsome and so brilliantly ballsy that being able to own one must be the ultimate expression that you, sir, have won at life.

The new V60 Polestar isn't just a pretty face, either. Underneath this Rebel Blue bonnet (you can also opt for black, white or silver) lies a tuned version of Volvo's 3.0-litre T6 straight-six turbocharged petrol engine, which produces a beefy 345bhp at 5700rpm and 369lb/ft torque at 2800rpm. These power gains have been achieved thanks to a new twin-scroll Borg Warner turbo, a new intercooler and Polestar's own 2.5-inch stainless exhaust system.

Power is transferred to each corner via a six-speed auto 'box with flappy paddles.

Despite tipping the scales at a heavyweight 1822kg, the Polestar wagon will crack 62mph from standing in 4.9sec and go on to an electronically limited 155mph. Without the limiter, this thing would easily charge on to over 170mph.

Chassis rigidity has been beefed up to handle the Polestar's 80 per cent stiffer springs (compared with the standard R-Design) and Öhlins shock absorbers finish off the super-wagon's new suspension set up.

Keeping the car on the straight and narrow are 371mm ventilated front discs and six-piston Brembo calipers, while the car's 20-inch Polestar rims are wrapped in wide 245/35 rubber.

External tweaks include a new front splitter and a rear spoiler and diffuser which help keep the wagon glued to the tarmac.

The V60 Polestar hits UK showrooms in June 2014 and will likely be limited in numbers. Prices are yet to be revealed, but we'd estimate upwards of £50,000.
