Warning - Here's A Seat Leon You'll Want Badly
You’re looking at one of Seat’s headliners for the Geneva show, but it’s not just a family hatch minus the rear doors. The Leon SC - Sports Coupe - is different from the five-door car from the cabin backwards.
The roof line rakes more steeply for a more coupe-like silhouette and the wheelbase is 35mm shorter for extra agility – and we like that. Rear legroom is cut down a bit but the SC is aimed at those of us who’ve managed not to have kids yet, so practicality takes the back seat here.
That said, you still get the same 380-litre boot which is good for four bin bags full of dirty laundry. But it’s the looks that draws our eye. The Leon SC takes the Golf’s kebab and pees all over it thanks to stand-out styling and lines so sharp you could cut yourself. There's something Alfa-ish about the SC.
On top of that, the SC will get some tasty engines. Off the bat the best you can get is a 1.8 turbo petrol with 180 horses and there’s a 2.0-litre diesel with similar punch, but it’s no real secret that a hot – very hot – Cupra R version is on the way with rumours of more than 275bhp, active air ducts and copious amounts of speed. Expect to see that at Frankfurt later in the year.
But for now, it's the FR version that is king of the Leon SC hill. With it, you can get some awesome kit like 18-inch wheels and full-LED headlights that give you a much crisper view of night-time country roads. They also look mint, which is always a bonus.
