Does anyone know exactly what the car is doing when he is demonstrating the off road ‘crawl control’? What is causing that knocking noise and how does it work?
It uses pulses from the ABS system to control speed. That’s what you are hearing. It should be noted that there are 2 speeds and it only does that on the slowest setting.

I used to drive a 91 FJ80 LandCruiser, and that thing is awesome. It had over 300k miles on it when I had to sell it, without any major repairs. I would pay every penny of 85k for that car… if i had the money lol

Except your Land Rover will break as soon as your warranty is over.. Land Cruisers run to over 400k miles without any major repair
Well here in Australia the Toyota is pretty much king… I’ve lived in multiple places in remote Northern Territory, and the only 4x4 that I’ve ever seen survive in these places are Toyota’s. Fair enough 85k is a big number you take all those extra things out like the heated/cooled seats and DVD players and I’m sure the price should drop down.
bring in some american trucks and that might change 😉
I doubt u could get one probably wouldn’t want one anyway but an awd aerostar with the 4.0 and being extended r incredible they wouldn’t spin even on ice they would go up a steep hill when they were being made there were 4x4 races in Canada so in the 80’s and 90’s anything 4x4 was welcome there were rocks mud snow ice sand etc what won a lot of those races the aerostar a minivan reliable as can be and would go anywhere ugly slow but incredible
The first Toyota I ever drove was an old 45 series, I spent a lot of my life working in remote communities driving all kinds of Toyota’s from the 80 series lancruiser wagons, to the 75 - 78 series troop carriers. Those old diesels weren’t fast but never let you down!
