Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

HELL man it’s CATastrophic
It’s pretty challenging to dodge puns on CarThrottle.
Mid-race weight reduction… nice tactic
Is it against the rules in any racing series? Probably not.
sometimes 900hp is too much hp
Only in a Miata. For 900HP Miata is never the answer.
Torque kicked in yo…
will that fit in my honda?
It’s not too much hp, a carbon driveshaft can support up to about 13000 lb/ft
I was wondering how the hell did a carbon shaft break. Maybe it had factory defects? or some other part gave in?
Well, sh*t just gone serious right now. Can anyone explain wtf is happening?
Heh, carbon driveshaft does not hold well when the torque or power is from a dig due to amount of stress it will take. It is a fiber, even though it is very strong, will not do so well in high powered drag racing applications but when the vehicle is at motion, it does extremelyrics well with it being light. Hence why you see them used for competitive circuit instead of drag racing. This is the reason why chromoly drive shafts are preferred over them then carbon fiber since the metal can withstand the stress from high hp drag applications. Well until further technology and research is made to make them suitable for these applications.
I don’t know if anyone else heard it but there was a slight whining and clunking noise other than the big obvious supercharger whine
Driveshaft be like : f*ck it,i’m done here
Too much torque?
That thing must’ve be packing loads of torque before it destroyed it’s driveshafts like that
The engine was made in the U.S. The carbon fiber driveshaft was made in China.
