Watch The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Take On The World (Almost)

How does the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio stack up against its rivals? Motor Trend pitted it against the BMW M3 Competition Pack, Cadillac ATS-V and Mercedes-AMG C63 to find out

Believe it or not, it’s been over a year and a half since Alfa Romeo first revealed the Giulia. And yet, it’s still not quite sunk in, has it? After all those years of rehashed front-wheel drive Fiats, suddenly we have an all-new, rear-wheel drive Alfa, sitting on a brand spanking new platform and available with a Ferrari-ish V6. It’s almost too good to be true.

With all that in mind, you can’t help but wonder where the top-of-the-line Giulia Quadrifoglio sits amongst its rivals. That’s what the guys over at Motor Trend wanted to find out, in this head-to-head battle. Since a ‘head-to-head’ doesn’t really work with four cars, the three rival cars - the BMW M3 Competition Pack, Cadillac ATS-V and Mercedes-AMG C63 - fought it out on track, with the winner sent to give the Alfa what-for.

Let the battle commence…

as a great man once said: “You can’t be considered a true petrolhead if you have not owned, or wanted to own, an Alfa Romeo.”. Only 3 cars really made me feel the want to own an Alfa; the utterly gorgeous Brera, the magnificent 4C, and this Giulia QV.

Hoping that the coupe version of Alfa will be a hatchback like Brera. Would be more practical and different from its competition.

I concur about Brera. I am no Alfa fan, never liked their cars, but Brera knocked me off my feet. However, Giulia is simply what the name says: a female version of the other manly looking sedans in the test. Looks are subjective, but to me, they don’t have the appeal over the M3 and Cadillac. Merc is a bit better, but still a bit too undefined with so much rounded edges/corners on the chassis.

Still from a psychological point of view I cannot see myself putting so much cash on the table for an Alfa. Or for that matter a BMW or a Caddy. The C-Class is too small for that amount of cash. Audi? Where are you?
