Watch A Demolition Arm Pluck A Navara From A Quake-Hit Multi-Storey Like A Toy
Being told your car is technically scrap despite it being undamaged must be tough. Watching as demolition machines retrieve it and then drop it upside down onto a pile of rubble must be excruciating.
Nine owners were forced to abandon their cars in a cinema complex’s multi-storey car park in Reading, New Zealand, after the building suffered critical damage during an earthquake in November.
Presumably the relevant insurance companies have paid out, but that won’t lessen the pain felt by the owner of this Nissan pickup, which was parked against the outer edge of the building. As the claw reaches in and grabs on at the bulkhead behind the engine, you already suspect it’s not going to be repairable.
But then dropping it upside down and watching its slightly crumpled body roll slowly back over onto its wheels isn’t nice. We bet it still runs, though.

Reading is the name of the cinema whose carpark is being destroyed. The carpark is in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital. Just thought ya might want to correct that
I have a feeling that it would still work
This is in my hometown. There were many cars in this parking building when the earthquake hit but the owners weren’t able to collect any belongings from inside or claim the insurance until the cars were actually destroyed two months later! 😲
If that was a Volvo or Hilux, the claw would’ve snapped in half
Well their goes that guys Nissan xD
