Watch An E46 BMW M3 Driver Get Caught Out By A Slow Moving Porsche Cayman At The 'Ring
In a classic example of the perils of the Nurburgring touristenfahrten, it looks like this BMW driver is completely caught out by the slower moving Cayman up ahead, leading to a spin followed by a hefty Armco hit
Ideally we’d like to see exactly what happened just before this video started, but it certainly looks like the E46 driver came in too hot, misjudging the speed of the sedately driven Porsche Cayman. Proceedings go south when he clips the grass while braking, sending the M3 into a perilous spin.
What’s your armchair analysis?

To be fair, it looked like he’d already lost it before entering the shot - Cayman was lucky not to be collected in my opinion as he’s on opposite lock as he comes through the frame. If it was a bodged attempt at a lunge - then it’s still the BMW’s fault. Any motorsport rule book in any part of the world says its the responsibility of those doing the overtaking to complete the move successfully and for other/ slower drivers not to deviate from the racing line. Cayman maintained a solid trajectory and didn’t alter from it, so in my opinion, it’s all on the Beemer. Do feel for him though; as soon as you’re on the grass, you aren’t slowing for anything!
You are right, but i can’t agree on the part of “lost control before” . he was going a bit sideways, but if he could continue, he would be fine. By Braking for the ( in my opinion ) WAY TO SLOW Porsche, who was driving in the middle of the fu#€ing track, the M3 lost balance, rear end kicked forward and lost control :(
I would not want something this to happen to my bmw :(
Personally it looks like he was taking that corner too fast even without the Porsche there as he had already started to lose it through the corner
Caught by wet grass *
Isn’t this from the other video, when they didn’t show us the crash?
.
I always imagine it is better to just let the car spin out completely rather than trying to save it? Coz that always makes you end up in a wall.
If he did not have time too brake straight on the asphalt he was going too fast or just not keeping a proper distance between the cars in the rain
BMW driver didnt use the indicators
The fookin Porsche driver was staying in the middle of the track..
he didnt signal
