Watch Mark Webber's Hilarious Audition To Replace 'The American' On The Grand Tour

We like Mark Webber. He's a genuine sort of guy and likes a laugh, which would make him perfect as The Grand Tour's new tame racing driver... or maybe not

We like Mark Webber. I’ve interviewed him, and although he’s not a great fan of answering silly questions from the media (ahem), he absolutely loves cars.

He’s also not doing a lot right now, after Porsche withdrew from the top tier of endurance racing. As an Aussie, we can’t imagine he’s all that keen to get involved with the quiet street racing of Formula E, so why would he not join Clarkson, Hammond and May on The Grand Tour to put some fast laps in at the Eboladrome?

It looks nailed-on that the makeshift track near Swindon will return this series. The video above shows the three presenters starting their search for a replacement for The American, who was dropped a couple of weeks ago. In the video at the top, Webber puts a 911 GT2 RS through its epic paces at the track, before stepping into a Mercedes-AMG GT R.

It takes about 0.00001 seconds to realise what’s going on, and it’s funny as hell. We’re not sure he’ll be getting the job after all. But, if not Webber, then who? Fellow former F1 driver Jenson Button? Former Stig Ben Collins? Place your bets…

Nico Rosberg maybe? He’s started a youtube channel and seems he would have the time for something like this.

Yeah BBC was too big to realized it was the trio TG Hammond, May, and Clarkson that make TG famous worldwide. Before the trio TG was only recognise in UK alone.
