Cars are made to be driven. That's the belief of Bob Sirna, the man responsible for taking this stunning 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The car is beautiful, and the gravelly burble as it accelerates is as infectious as Bob's personality. His attitude and passion are to be admired, especially as many 300SL owners keep their cars pristine in a garage. But, as Bob says, "you only live once and you can't take it with you!" So he enjoys it, and therefore we can enjoy it.

He's been bringing his Gullwing to the salt flats since 2001, and for the last 7 years Sirna has worked to create a Bonneville engine - "I finally figured out how to hot rod the Mercedes-Benz hot rod!"

We don't need to tell you this car is stunning, sounds awesome, and is owned by a brilliant man. The video shows you that. So we'll just sum it up in Bob's own words: "This car's having more fun than most people have in their lifetime."
