Watch The Terrifying Moment A Train Smashes Into A Stranded 18-Wheeler

Two engineers were injured when their train smashed through a stranded 18-wheeler before derailing and hitting a tree. The incident happened in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, and the dramatic footage above shows the moment of impact.

The 18-wheeler, which was carrying a crane at the time, became stranded across the train tracks as the gates dropped. Fortunately the driver had time to jump out of the vehicle and run to safety. After the derailment, one of the train cars began leaking argon gas, causing an evacuation of the area.

The News Star reports that one of the train engineers was airlifted to hospital, while the other was transported by ambulance. “Both were conscious, but both were in serious condition,” Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs said.
