Watch A Tesla Model X Crush A 5.7-litre Camaro In A Tug Of War
In many ways it's just cruel to pit the mountain of mass and torque that is the Tesla Model X against an ordinary muscle car, but don't let that stop you watching
In what has to be one of the most predictable but still fascinating (ahem) drag races ever staged, two buddies decided to have a tug of war between their Chevrolet Camaro with a small block 350 engine… and a Tesla Model X.
It’s a bit like putting a baby sloth into a fight with a territorial male Silverback Gorilla. Like dropping Nemo into a small tank with a hungry piranha. There was only ever going to be one winner, but the way the Model X takes the strain effortlessly and then simply walks away with it is something.
We know the Model X is damn fast. Of course, as soon as one car starts spinning its wheels in these battles, it’s game over, but the Camaro… well, it never had the slightest chance. Brutal.

This tug of war is pretty stupid. The tesla has got more weight, all wheel drive and more torque. Of course it will win. Not really a fair battle. But how easily and fast the tesla pulled away really is quite cool to see.
Id still take the camaro also id love to see a tug of war with tesla model x versus a pickup truck with a diesel like a ram 3500
Everyone’s saying the Camaro’s underpowered, but that doesn’t matter at all here, it could have a thousand horsepower, the Tesla is just way heavier and has AWD. As long as the Tesla has enough torque to make the Camaro exceed its grip (Which isn’t a lot, since it’s an FR coupe), it’ll win every single time. Any Audi or Subaru would beat it, any SUV or crossover would do it. Anything that weighs over 3200lb, has AWD and more than 170 lb-ft or thereabouts will beat an iroc in a tug of war. If it had some insanely sticky tires, then it might have a chance against a couple of the base model Subarus by virtue of grip (The Subaru will still have more grip, but it’ll have too little torque to slide the Camaro backward, so it’ll just burn the clutch or stall). In short, this is not impressive at all. Show us that the Model X can out-pull a 4x4 Powerstroke and we might be impressed.
4WD traction > RWD traction. Simple.
All of the earlier comments on weight, torque and AWD - and the annoying music… I have hoping to hear some muscle at work, but … no.
So much for muscle
let see the model x go up against a diesel truck, then its a more fair fight
Cummis engine intensifies
This fight is as fair as my moped vs our saab 9-5 turbo tug of war
