Watch A Top Fuel Dragster’s Engine Blow Up In Slow Motion
This dramatic footage captures the moment Terry McMillen's NHRA top fuel dragster suffered a massive engine explosion, sending its supercharger flying off
Despite this massive incident being described by McMillen’s team as “[potentially] the biggest explosion in NHRA Top Fuel drag racing in over a decade,” no one was seriously injured. Even though the car was severely damaged at the event in Houston, the car has already been put back together.

VTEC kicked in yo

Luckily 300 mph seemed to put out any onboard fires XD
When you hit VTEC while you are in neutral
“BOOM. There’s was a massive explosion in the Amale car and it is grinding against the wall it is grinding against the wall”….yeah thanks I couldn’t see that, my eyes weren’t working for a second
If you’re a spectator looking down a strip from over a quarter mile away, you might not. The commentator is there for the spectators.
The craziest part of this video is that the explosion was just all the fuel usually being pumped into the engine igniting outside of it. Crazy how much fuel these things use.
Ricers when they see it

You should check out any of Jack Beckman’s explosions. Most involve sending the body a few hundred feet in the air. Saw one of them happen at Nationals a few years ago. For some reason it seems like its always the Mopars that blow.
Well, well, well… I guess someone blew the welds on his intake
