The truck belongs to a SHIPing company for sure.Anyway, it was eyeWATERing to seeing such a good man helping a guy in a MUDdy situation.

its a volvo, how did it get stuck ? and why the driver didnt get the idea of using that crane he has so he can push the truck out ?
What would keep a Volvo from getting stuck? And how exactly would he free himself with that crane? First, there is nowhere to attach it and then it would be way to weak to pull or push or move a lorry in any way, especially, when it’s stuck
The crane has safety limiters, basically you need to deploy the legs for it to work at all. It’s a norm with the new cranes. And besides, that’s a hydraulically made 4x4 Volvo. Equally as crappy as haldex systems, just differently made. I actually suspect that the driver had it on 2wd when he reversed on the lawn, accidentally spun the wheels and thus dug the rear axle against the ground instantly (well, actually the iShift spun the wheels). The front wheels couldn’t catch the asphalt so he got no chance of getting out and just dug the whole thing even deeper.
That right there is the one of the reasons i hate modern trucks that need to actually accomplish something outside paved road. Those robotized boxes aren’t sophisticated enough, and only one robotized box is truly capable in situations like those and that’s the M-B Powershift 3 WITH turbo clutch (basically torque converter and standard clutch paired together if you over simplify it). Only the torque converter can make the actions smooth and sophisticated enough aside from clutch operated by the driver.
iShift and opticruise boxes work decently on paved roads, but for harsh conditions they just don’t cut it as they are way too overprotective. It’s just a shame that they don’t offer them with +600hp engines as those are pretty much requirement for the jobs required. Scania has no real reason not to offer the manual with 730 as the opticruise is based on the manual box, just with added robotics.
I’d love to hear the conversation that took place before this, ‘’hey mate can you just give me a pull with your ship?’’
