We Got Up Close With The 2016 Ford GT And It's A Thing Of Beauty

Ford's taking a brand new Ford GT on a tour of Europe, and was kind enough to stop by the Car Throttle offices in London to let us get to know the all-new supercar

I feel like I can’t go anywhere at the moment without bumping into the Ford GT. First it was on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, then I sneaked into a back room after my interview with Christian von Koenigsegg to find one displayed without any annoying glass screens getting in my way. Then recently I turned up to work to find Ford had parked one outside our office, albeit in the back of a truck.

But no matter how many times I see it, I can’t get enough of it. If you haven’t seen the new Ford GT outside of a photograph, I urge you to try and find the opportunity to do so, as pictures really don’t do its extreme aerodynamic features justice. My favourite part is the tunnel that runs from the doors back towards the centre of the car, carving a gap between the cockpit and the rear wheels, covered by a bridge. If you focus your eyes you can see that it gives the cockpit and engine bay an awesome teardrop shape. Sure, the rear end looks a bit ungainly, but there are enough details for that not to matter, in my opinion.

It’s so frustrating seeing static displays, and the sooner this thing is out on the roads the better!
