We Need To Talk About The New McLaren 688 HS
Using the 675LT ‘super series coupe’ chassis, McLaren has been developing a supercar even more powerful than the crazy LT. Estimated to output around 679bhp, the McLaren MSO HS will use the same basic 3.8-litre V8 from the other cars in the company’s range but cranked up to sit below only the P1.
A nod to the P1 comes in the shape of a fully-active rear wing which is combined with a 40kg weight reduction from the already feather-weight 675LT. A striking roof-scoop and carbonfibre front splitter make for a hardcore McLaren that will take the fight to the best NA supercars that the car world has to offer.
Although this all seems a mouth-watering prospect, McLaren has stated that the MSO HS will not go into mass production with only 25 examples being manufactured. With the 675LT being classed as a P1 without the electric motors, the MSO HS will be a whole new level of performance from the McLaren Super Series. And with the 570GT by MSO debuting at Pebble Beach this week, McLaren seems to be continually on the up across their model range.
Comments
When was the last time a supercar company had a car with a name that made sense?
I think, the Ford GT…
MP4-12C. MP4 (the designation for all McLaren cars, be they race cars or road cars) 12 (the model year) C (meaning Car, indicating that this is a road car as opposed to a race car)
Makes perfect sense.
Honda NSX? (New Sportscar eXperimental)
Easy one:

Am I the only one that’s tired of supercar builders making its fastest special edition, then building another a few months later?
They’re ruining their own market aswell…
Inb4 they make another 25 spyders
MSO HS spyders*
A prediction for the next model: the McLaren Ctrl + C, with a hardcore version called: the McLaren Ctrl + V.
Nice
Shmee intensifies
The 540C, the 570S, the 570GT, the 650S, the 675LT, the P1 and now the 688 HS. They all look the same and I can’t tell the difference between them
Preach
Ever heard of Porsche?
Me too bro. Althought I can spot the P1 only
i love mclren, but instead of finding a light weight car that reacts insanely well with the engine they should switch up the engine in the 650s,p1, and new F1
Finally a big wing to match the OTT front end of the last few Modals
Expect an “I bought a McLaren 688HS” from Shmee150 soon.
Next we’ll have the P1678LTGTR-LM-124C, can’t wait
No he said he didn’t get one.
