What It's Like To Drive The Stunning Porsche Cayman 'GTR'
A few months ago, we were busy ogling a very special Porsche Cayman. The work of a US firm called Road Scholars, it’s based on a 987-generation car, with almost all of its bodywork binned and replaced with new panels to create the wide-arched monster you see here.
It’s powered by a 911 engine stroked to 4.2 litres, putting out somewhere in the region of 400whp. It’s been festooned with numerous 911 GT3 RS bits including carbon ceramic brakes, looks the business inside and out, and has an incredible CAE ‘Ultra Short Shifter’ poking out between its two seats. If we were to list everything that’s been done to it, we’d be here a long time.
As you’d expect, the Cayman GTR’s enviable ingredients lists adds up to quite a special driving experience, as related here by Matt Farah. Oh, and it also sounds as angry as it looks.
The want is strong…

Hell I won’t even drive a normal Cayman any time soon
When non car guys get the job of giving cars names XD
What’s wrong with the name?
This or a Cayman GT4? Decisions, decisions…
When I read the title, I thought it was a VR38DETT swapped Cayman LOL.
Road Scholars is the most amazing dealership to go visit
They have some amazing cars show up at their CnC’s. They also have an amazing showroom with a great restoration department. I’ve seen a Miura and 959 in for restoration as well as many other beautiful cars.
This car is always amazing to see in person
A “GTR”
