Why Should We Love Mad SEMA Concepts? Because Of This Bright Orange Lexus NX, That's Why
When it comes to picking a favourite motor from this year’s SEMA show, the targa-topped Scion FR-S modified by Cartel Customs just about edges it for me. I say just, because there’s another car that comes very close: this Lexus NX by 360 Elite Motorworks.
Yep, it’s time to confess: I’ve actually been lusting over a Lexus crossover. A car which is notable for having Will.i.am’s smug faced splashed all over its promotional material, and not a lot else. But, this demonstrates what’s just so great about some of these mad SEMA concepts.
With the whole car dropped onto a set of 21-inch HRE forged wheels and garnished with a crazy Artisan Spirits bodykit, this NX is immeasurably cooler than the standard car, even if it’s most likely still rocking all the gubbins from the regular 200t F Sport underneath. And just look at that colour!
Taking something already desirable like the Scion or - to stick with the subject of Lexus - the RC (see the Rocket Bunny-kitted piece of madness above, also at SEMA this year) and make it even more exciting is one thing, but it’s quite another to take a car a little more humdrum and turn it into something mad.
That’s why I reckon these are the most special motors to appear at SEMA, and are a big part of why it’s a show that’s worth paying attention to.
