Why We're Pissed With The Super Hot & Mentally Fast Porsche 911 GT3
This properly badass new Porsche 911 GT3 has all the important hallmarks to make it the best 911 production car ever. It's powered by a tuned version of the 3.8-litre flat six you get in the Carrera S - which pumps out a whopping 468bhp - will hit 62mph from dead in 3.5sec (the same figure as the bonkers 611bhp GT2 RS) and is good for 196mph when wound all the way up.
It's also suitably expensive - £100,540 when it hits UK shelves in November - and features four-wheel steering to make the GT3 ridiculously agile through the bends. But don't take our word for it - Porsche's managed a sub-7 min 30 secs lap time around the Nürburgring (aka 'Green Hell'), making it a full 10sec faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640!
Bearing this all in mind then, what's Porsche done to piss us off? Brace yourselves - they've done a Renault. Yup, that means that Porsche is the latest manufacturer to rip our beloved manual gearbox from our eager left hands. What's replaced it, is a seven-speed dual-clutch auto 'box, with steering wheel-mounted shifters. That's right, they're the things that none of us ever use, except in computer games...
Of course, the GT3's seven speeder will be magnificent, but not giving owners - Porsche owners - the choice of a back-to-basics man-ual is well out of order. Agree?
