Wiesmann Is Making A Comeback With BMW M Power

Remember Wiesmann? The German purveyor of retro sports cars, which collapsed in 2014, is coming back to reality – and it’s bringing a big V8 from BMW’s M Division.

The company that brought us the E46 M3-powered MF3 and the F10 M5-engined GT MF5 is having another go, and engine donor BMW is back on board.

Wiesmann Is Making A Comeback With BMW M Power

The brand has issued the announcement on its website. The earliest stages of a new car’s design have been completed, which we understand to mean that the basic drivetrain and chassis designs are set in stone, and the BMW V8 will fit.

We’d expect that the engine in question will be the latest version of the M Division S63 4.4-litre unit. Like it did when Wiesmann took it for the GT MF5, the S63 today graces the engine bay of the latest M5. It’s not unheard-of for BMW to supply older-generation engines, as with the Morgan Aero 8, which uses the N62 V8, but Wiesmann has pedigree with the 4.4-litre S63 and it’s the likeliest lump to feature. Bring it on!
