I wish we were joking, I really do. But sadly, we’re 20 days too late for April Fool’s and there really is a car in existence called the BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence THE NEXT 100 YEARS. The name has come about through a range of special edition 7-series models catchily called BMW Individual 7 Series THE NEXT 100 YEARS (we’re not sure why BMW is shouting for the last bit, but that’s what’s in the press release) of which 100 worldwide will be made.

For the top-of-the-line version you need to sandwich in M760i xDrive Model V12, creating a monstrous name which is 57 characters long. Including the spaces, you could only just fit it into a Tweet twice.

The rest of the range doesn’t fare much better in the naming stakes, as you’ll see below:

BMW Individual 740Le iPerformance THE NEXT 100 YEARS.
BMW Individual 740Le xDrive iPerformance THE NEXT 100 YEARS.
BMW Individual 750Li THE NEXT 100 YEARS.
BMW Individual 750Li xDrive THE NEXT 100 YEARS.

So, other than the name, what’s special about the BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence THE NEXT 100 YEARS? Well, the interior is awash with lashings of posh Merino leather and festooned with ‘THE NEXT 100 YEARS’ badges, while the exterior is finished in exclusive Centennial Blue Metallic paint from BMW Individual. Oh, and you also get a ‘BMW Centennial Fountain Pen’ which matches the colour of the car, should that be the sort of thing which interests you…

Sounds like a name a Chinese car company would call one of their cars.

It’s a grey area. It’s April 21 on this side of the world, so 20 is correct. But the author is from England where I believe (at the time of writing) it is still April 20 so….potato.

That name has more characters than my full name, and my full name is considered quite large around here; this has 57 characters and my name has 31.

With a name like that it sounds like a Chinese knockoff from eBay.
