Yes, This Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake Is Actually Real
Many years ago, when Car Throttle was a pokey blog staffed by a handful of people, we thought it would be a great idea to imagine a GT86 shooting brake. The resulting render was stupidly popular, and over the years ended up being one of many digital creations of the Toyota coupe with an enlarged booty. Well, there’s now a real one, created by Toyota Australia.
The project started in 2014 when Tetsuya Tada - global engineer for the Toyota 86 - saw a clay model of a shooting brake 86 in Australia, and liked what he saw so much a real version was commissioned.
The car you see here was taken off the production line mid-way through completion, after which the body was heavily altered by hand to create the shooting brake style look. The wheelbase remains the same, and mechanically it’s identical to a regular 86.
Before you get excited about such a car hitting showrooms though, it’s worth pointing out that there are no plans to make a production version. Boo.

I know I’m going to get alot of hate for this and don’t get me wrong I love wagons (I have a 410hp dodge magnum) but…it looks like a Honda Cr-z
It looks kinda odd..
As a swede, I approve of this message 🇸🇪 🚗

You beat us to it!
That looks….. AWESOME!
That’s a wagon. A wagon that doesn’t deserve to exist if it’s going to look like that.
