You Could Buy Three Used V8 M3s For The Price Of An M4 Convertible
We really like the look of the new M4 convertible, but with prices starting at a hefty £60k, we think its predecessor is a tempting used alternative. Prices for the E93 V8 M3 (BMW's name restructuring means the coupe and convertible M3s are now called M4) start at £20,000, a third of the price of the new M4 drop-top.
And there's no turbocharging going on here: just a glorious 4.0-litre, naturally-aspirated V8. With 420bhp at the driver's disposal, 0-62mph is dealt with in a brisk 5.2 seconds, while the top speed is electronically-limited 155mph.
The folding hardtop is dropped with the touch of a button, meaning you can make the most of that glorious V8 roar blaring out of the tailpipes. It may not be quite as handsome as the new M4 convertible, but it's still very easy on the eyes.
This one is up for £24,995, has just 38,000 miles on the clock and comes with a full service history. Most importantly, it's the version with the manual gearbox.
