You're Not A True Vettel Fan Unless You Spend £72k On His Helmet
One of Vettel's many 2013 helmets was in high demand when it went up for auction recently
The helmet that Sebastian Vettel was wearing when he won the 2013 German Grand Prix, his first home victory, recently broke auction records when it was sold for £72,100.
The signed helmet went under the hammer at a Bonhams auction in aid of Wings for Life, Red Bull Racing's title charity partner. Vettel is notorious for changing his helmet design for every race, making each one a unique piece.
The helmet broke a new world-record for the largest sum of money paid for an F1 driver's helmet. It beat the previous record set last year when one of Ayrton Senna's helmets sold for £71,000.
Mark Webber also donated two helmets for the auction. The signed pieces worn at Spa and Monza this season fetched just under £26,000 together.
