Event review: Circuit Mont-Tremblant's "Sommet des Légendes"

One of Mont-Tremblant’s hidden gem is its racetrack. Located in the city of Mont-Tremblant in Canada, the track typically hosts four events for summertime. The “Sommet des Légendes”, roughly translating to “Legends’ Summit”, is a gather of all things racecar - from LMP cars to early single seater. I’ll be judging this year’s event along certain criterias; Cars and Experience.

The Cars

The cars the event included were overwhelming. LMP and GT racing alongside each other, a V10 F1 (Nigel Mansell’s Renault), Cosworth V8 powered single seater, 60s-70s GTs, Can-Am cars, newer single seater and many more. To a fan of racing, it is heaven on earth. The sounds are glorious and the action relentless. For the modified cars’ enthusiasts; this is not your event. Classic cars’ enthusiasts can rejoice at the sight of millions of dollar of old school and new school machinery being used properly on track, driven at their very limit.

Experience

On a Sunday, the tickets were a cool 35$ which is on the more expensive side of car shows. Add another 10$ for parking (which is actually worth it since you can park track side). Stands are non-existent which means bring camping chairs (rookie mistake). Rules are pretty relaxed as is the events’ audience. Thankfully enough, no douchey stance swaglord (not their scene at all) and a older crowd meant the event felt a lot more “posh” than your typical run of the mill cars and coffee. The ticket includes an admission to spectate the event as well as access to the paddock. As the paddock is on the outside of the track and the spectators’ area is on the inside with no link to one another, it is pretty diffcult to get to the paddock especially with the 3.7 KM separating them. The cars are loud and the spectators almost nowhere to be seen which is actually quite peaceful. The seasoned spectator should bring a friend… and sunscreen (learned that the hard way). The event starts at 9 AM and finishes at 3:30 PM.

I’m not a very litteral fellow but I really enjoyed my experience and I will definitely come back next year. For Canadians living in Quebec or even Ontario, the “Sommet des Légendes” is a must!
