Saleen S1 to be unveiled at the LA Auto Show
The Saleen S1 is an unheard of car for many of us gearheads. For starters, Saleen (they’re an American tuning company) has only built one car which was the Saleen S7. With a Ford GT-sourced V8, it was one of the most powerful cars in its time. But now those times are gone, and Saleen hasn’t really been hear of in a long time. But now, Saleen might make a comeback with this new compact sports car. The Saleen S1 isn’t really new, as it was first revealed in China in November 8. Now, it will make a reveal in the West at the LA Auto Show as a new Saleen and the first Chinese-built cars in the United States. The Saleen S1 has its platform sourced from a Lotus Evora and its engine from the 2.3L Ecoboost Ford engine. Not only will this be a new step in the idea of Chinese cars, but it will also fulfill a life-long dream of Steve Saleen having Chinese-built cars in the US. Meant to go up against the Alfa Romeo 4C or Porsche 718 Boxster (and Alpine A110 for you Brits), expect this car to be a mean Sino-American sports car.
