Pagani really ups the ante when it comes to car-shaped keys, with this aluminium replica of the full-size Huayra. It’d make a lovely ornament or paper weight, but when you split it in half and put it into the dash, it looks like a mini Pagani has crashed into your centre console. Rubbish.

The sooner Renault ditches this wretched key card, the better. It looks horribly cheap, and takes up far too much room in your pocket. First-world problems, right?

This nasty, cheap-looking thing appears on a multitude of different cars, including the BRZ/GT-86/FR-S trio, and the Subaru WRX STI.

When we took the keys to the gorgeous, posh and rather expensive Jaguar F-Type recently, we were a little taken aback by the dated, low-rent key it was lumbered with. The same design is used across Jaguar Land Rover’s cars.

6. Mini

We’re not even sure if this is actually a key. It might be a plastic Babybel cheese.
