Does anyone here know why most Japanese cars (Japan-spec generally) have their odometer limited to 180 km/h, even though the car is able of way faster?

The first pic is a 1997 Supra, the second pic is a 1995 EG6 Civic SiR, the third pic is a 1993 RX-7 FD and the last pic is a 1997 NSX-S

Most Japanese cars are electronically limited to 180 km/h and thus the speedometer ends there. in modern cars like the GT-R, the system notices when you enter a racetrack and deactivates the limiter then

I know the R35 is, although if you go to a racetrack, the GPS detects it and removes the limiter.

Yes safety feature. I love the fact though that if you can do over 180 they just wont even try chase you 😂👌
