Want to know how oversteer friendly an SVT Focus is?
Hello fellow CTzens, here at DAGGERs Garage we autocross. More specifically, we autocross a 2004 Ford Focus SVT (also know as an ST170). I always knew that these Foci tend to have a tail happy rear end at the limit, but I never knew exactly how much until this weekend.
Question: What happens when you combine an old airstrip, hot pavement, over-pressurized tires, and a guy with a need for speed?
Answer: You get one heck of a great time. It had been my goal to push so hard during a run that I spin out, and I’m happy to say that I was successful in doing so…twice. I know that spinning out isn’t the point of autocross, but hey, what other place can you intentionally spin out without fear of dying, or worse, wrecking your car?

I run 46 psi in my UHP tires. Took a highway off ramp at 150 a few days ago. That’s one way to get tail happy in a Focus. LoL
High speed stability is overrated Lol
I have an svtF. They’re EXTREMELY tail happy at the limit.
It’s great isn’t it? I wouldn’t have thought FWD cars could oversteer that much straight from the factory.
I never would’ve thought it either. I just absolutely love it 👎 Lets just say i had ti replace luckily only my front bumper. 😒
Ouch. I know how hard replacement front bumpers are to find for these.
I found the oem svtf fromnt bunoer off Craigslist. Had to drive to Georgia ti get it. I have to repaint it but its in Excellent condition and i bought it for a steal. Usually these bumpers skyrocket into 500$ or more
That’s awesome. I’m on my second front bumper at the moment and I really hope that I never have to try and find another.
