Comparing the Dodge Challenger Drag Pack to the SRT Demon #blogpost

So, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know about the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the incredible numbers it produces. Lesser known however, is the even more insane Drag Pack, however not as available and more expensive than the Demon. Anyway, I’ll jump right into some basic specs and points as to which is the better car.

So let’s begin with the obvious, that being the Demon. You probably already know it makes 840 horsepower and 770 pound feet of torque, goes 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, and runs the 1/4 mile in 9.6… And that seems impressive until you compare them to the Drag Pack 354’s 1000 horsepower and 8.0 second 1/4 mile pass… Now, it might seem the Drag Pack would be the obvious choice here, but take into consideration the fact that only 60 were built, and that the Demon costs “well under $100,000” A price ceiling that the Drag Pack shatters by about $10 grand. Also, the Demon is street legal, more on that later…

Practicality

Yeah ok, neither of these cars are practical IN THE LEAST. But I’m more talking about, what’s more practical for the guy who wants to take his car out to the dragstrip on the weekend. For that, this kinda has to go to the Demon. The advantage for the rare person who regularly visits the strip cannot go un-addressed. And that advantage being, you can actually drive it to the drag strip. Instead of having to drag your car on a trailer (See what I did there?) you can simply drive to the strip, make your passes, and drive home. That’s also a distinct edge price-wise, as you save money on a trailer, truck, and gas for the truck. It’s like when Porsche released the GT3 RS, they said their goal was to “Put the trailer companies out of business” Or, in essence, to make a street legal race car. And that’s exactly what Dodge has done…

WAAAAy overdue guys I know sorry for the EXTREME lateness XD
Anyway, StuttgartMadness out.

Yes, you can make it road legal. Heck you can make a tank road legal. But then there’s price and availability.

Or you could build a 750hp VR6T and stuff it and a 4Motion drivetrain into a MK2 Jetta. It’ll probably keep up with a Demon for half the money. It is a viable option if you know your way around a car.

As much as you want it to, it won’t be reliable. A fun project, but no comparison with the demon.
