Top 5 Reasons Why The Daihatsu Cuore Is Better Than The Nissan GT-R

1. It makes much more sense in city traffic

There is no denying that the GT-R, be it as fast as you want, is not the best possible choice in urban stop-and-go traffic in cities like London. Also, thanks to the small windows, the visibility in the GT-R is much worse.
In this part, the Daihatsu does everything better, being much smaller, lighter and having a lot better visibility.

2. It's already a classic

With the first units being produced in June 1980, you can already get a tax discount as a classic car. The first built Cuores turned 35 this year; the last models of the first generation are already 30 years, making first-generation Cuores full classic cars by definition according to German law (§21c i.V.m. §23 Ic StVZO).

3. It has much more personalization options

If you plan to buy a GT-R, you are bound to a biturbo V6 and four wheel drive in a coupé body. Now what if you don’t like this? The Daihatsu Cuore offers many more options to choose from, starting with 3 different body styles in the first generation already (3-door hatch, 3-door van, 5-door hatch). You can get it with turbo engines and all-wheel drive aswell, while still keeping you the options of the gearbox open (4/5-speed manual, 2-speed automatic, 2-speed semi-automatic).

4. It's much more practical

Should you ever plan to do your weekly shopping trip in a GT-R, don’t do it. The boot is already full when you loaded a crate of beer and some eggs in it. As it is always, the Daihatsu does everything better in that aspect. If you are not statisfied with the already magnificient boot space for a vehicle only marginally bigger than a Kei-Car, you can still order a delivery-van version.

5. It has been featured by Mighty Car Mods

Who doesn’t know it, the legendary Blue Turd from Season 1 of our favourite web series, Mighty Car Mods? It has recieved extensive modifications including an engine swap from the Daihatsu Sirion.

Can’t you just put GT-R internals in a Cuore? You might have the perfect car right there…

That’d be great, then you would have a car that is as fast as a GT-R while looking much nicer. I’m not kidding, for me the 1980 Cuore looks better than the GT-R.
