Behold The 1198bhp Austro Daimler Bergmeister ADR 630 Shooting Grand
This brand new shooting brake has 1198bhp, 1180lb ft of torque, will smash through 200mph and launch to 62mph in just 2.5 seconds. And it’s from Austria (sort of).
The old name Austro Daimler has been revived after 85 years in a dusty back room at Daimler headquarters. Pre-1934 the originally Austro-Hungarian firm was already owned by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG), an earlier form of the Daimler we know today. And my, the badge has made a dramatic re-entrance.
An oddly-proportioned shooting brake body, which almost looks like it’s sagging in the middle, wraps around a Mercedes 3.0-litre straight-six and three whacking great electric motors worth 271bhp apiece. It’s four-wheel drive, weighs 1650kg at the kerb and can drive on electric power alone for as much as 155 miles. Total driving range is a theoretical 620 miles.
A 55kW lithium-ion battery sits at the back of the borrowed AMG GT chassis, taking up the donor car’s usual boot space and making the bread van body style a must. It measures 4544mm long, 2087mm wide and can be charged with the latest ultra-fast 150kW chargers.
Its designers have pushed the boat right out with a front-hinged bonnet, gullwing doors and a strangely high divider between the driver and front passenger. It’s certain that there’s nothing else quite like it out there.
Due for a debut at the UK’s Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace on 5 September, the car will then launch to the wider UK market. It’s currently a one-off with an unknown price, but anyone who wants Austro Daimler to build more should expect big numbers.

They must have used Google to translate the name.
Shooting Guard sounds a lot like a border patrol officer….

Holy crap thats a long name, and a long hood
Im not sure if its a gorgeous or monstrous combination of the clown shoe Z3M and AMG GT. I have also never thought about splinters in a crash before. Stunning minimalist interior.
