Move Over, Build Your Own: Ford's Mustang Customizer

Highly anticipated cars (and even not highly anticipated cars, come to think of it) often get flashy websites and vehicle configurators.

Highly anticipated cars (and even not highly anticipated cars, come to think of it) often get flashy websites and vehicle configurators. You know the drill - a "build your own" where you can pick the vehicle's trim level, options and colors inside and out, culminating at the end with a page listing the price and configured vehicle options.

While the 2010 Mustang has been highly anticipated, in addition to the usual configurator Ford is offering a different (and far more fun) approach with it's Mustang Customizer as part of the "2010 Mustang Experience."

Look at that! No, it's not a screenshot - it's a wallpaper image created by the Mustang Customizer. Ford calls it a tool for "dreaming up your ultimate Mustang" and that it is. It appears that it already has a lot of people building their own Mustangs -  I had trouble creating my image due to traffic so the one you see above isn't fully customized.

There are over 18 categories to modify your Mustang, adding and deleting items and tweaking with colors and accessories. Some of the interesting things with this Customizer include the ability to change the environment around the vehicle as well - like smoke around the tires, burnout marks on the ground and grafitti on the parking garage pillar and roof.

I had a lot of fun playing around with it, and this has proved to be a unique idea. Points for creativity! When you're finished working on your dream Mustang, you can submit it to be rated by the community. SO, what are you waiting for? Get over HERE and start customizing!
