2E Engine Fix | Starting off with the Starter
Good day CTzens, I am making this post as a heads up if you ever have a problem with your starter and needs to be removed, especially for 2E engines. Three posts ago (if you checked my profile) I had an issue in starting my car, diagnosed it with the help the CTzens, and concluded that my starter would be bad. To confirm it, you will need to remove the starter.
Here are the things that you will need
- Gloves
- 12 mm wrench
- 14 mm wrench
Pretty common tools, so lets get started (pun intended)
Remember to wear your gloves, unless you want dirty and oily hands
First remove the connections of you battery
Second, locate the starter
To locate the starter, just look for where the engine and the transmission meets. For the 2E engine, it is placed at the back of the engine, under the intake.
It is also the same for the 4AF engine, back of the engine and under the intake.
Third, remove the starter
Get your 14 mm wrench and remove the 2 bolts holding the starter. They can be easily seen as they are placed

After removing the bolts, try wiggling the starter to let it out. If you have removed the starter, move to the other side and start removing the connections with a 12 mm wrench to remove the bolt (black arrow) and use your hands to remove the clip (white arrow)
Warning, starters are heavy
Lastly, diagnose your starter or replace it
If you were to replace your starter, go with the quality brands because remember “fake parts, break hearts”. Ask someone, the forums, or the mechanic as what are their preferred brands for replacement parts.
If you want to DIY repair your starter, you could check this repair manual for 1E and 2E engines
Installing the starter is just reversing this steps. Well, you could call the mechanic to do all this job but its kinda rewarding that you know that you will be installing things on your car, especially the important ones.
As always, Thank you for viewing this post and have a good day CTzens
